Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold: The Future of Foldables Arrives with a Triple-Fold Display

The Galaxy Z TriFold represents the ambitious move of Samsung in the next generation of foldable smartphones. Its triple-fold design and tablet-sized main screen redefine the line between a smartphone and a tablet, allowing users to use the device as either a compact phone or a large-screen tablet depending on how they fold it.. This is particularly attractive to power users, multitaskers, and other people who want to have the highest level of flexibility in one device.

Overview

Overview

Design and Build-up

The phone has two hinges whose coils are inwards, making it have stability even with the complex tri-fold structure. Samsung crafts the frame from high-strength alloy and reinforces the back panel with polymer, achieving a rigid and durable build while keeping the device remarkably slim. The device becomes exceptionally narrow when unfolded, but it grows much bulkier when folded, which reflects the inevitable trade-off of such a complex design.

Display

The TriFold has two screens: a 6.5 inch cover display with a maximum size of 6.5 when folded up, which is best used as a traditional phone, and a main display of 10.0-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X when unfolded, providing tablet-like amount of screen space that can be used to multitask, consume media, read, or be productive. Both models have a 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and high peak brightness to be used both indoors and outdoors.

Processor

Galaxy Z TriFold uses the premium Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform (3 nm) which offers single-user flagship performance including multitasking, heavy application, and high-end functions. It has a RAM of 16 GB with a starting storage of 512 GB, which guarantees it a hassle-free performance to enhance productivity, media editing, and use of multiple applications at once.

Battery

Samsung equips the TriFold with a 5,600 mAh three-cell battery system, distributing the cells across the three panels to deliver evenly balanced power. It can be charged wired at 45 W using wire and at 15 W using wireless charging, thus can be easily recharged. This is one of the biggest batteries that Samsung has ever employed on a foldable phone.

Camera

The TriFold has a camera system of flagship grade:

  • Rear: 200 MP main sensor, 12 MP ultra-wide lens, and 10 MP telephoto lens optical zoom.
  • Front: Both cover and main displays have 10 MP cameras, which provide the flexibility to fold the phone or not.

This configuration renders it competitive in terms of photography, video and creative work.
